Well, we finally ran up against a well coached team. Our boys looked like the bad news bears out there. They couldn't even do the fundamental things like snap the football.
The score was 0-18 at halftime. Apparently the powers that be felt bad for the boys and could see their frustration because then came the lightening and the eventual calling of the game. That was probably the highlight of the game for our players. They were done. They were pissed off and embarrassed, and you could see it in their body language. On the side lines, the players were screaming at each other, dropping F-bombs at each other, and blaming each other. Which of course led to the coach ripping them. It was an ugly night all around.
At the games, we sit with several other parents. There's been a lot of complaining in the stands the past 3 weeks. Well, apparently, one of the parents emailed and talked with the head coach. He blames the kids for their bad play, not the coaching or lack thereof. I find it odd that these players were undefeated last year, both JV teams were. Now, this year, they can't even get the fundamentals. Sorry coach, but kids learn the fundamentals through COACHING and PRACTICE. Now amazingly so, that particular player is being singled out. The poor kids is now having all sorts of problems with one particular coach. Why? Is this coach pissed that the parents are stating the obvious? Are his feelings hurt because we say they aren't coaching the kids?
My son doesn't want us to say anything to the coach because he doesn't think it will make anything change, he doesn't think the coach even cares, and he doesn't want to be punished because of something we might say. How pathetic is that? These coaches can't stand up like men, listen to the criticism, and try to make things right. Do they not realize that this is their future varsity, and they aren't doing themselves or the players any favors for next year? That is if they have any players left. It's bad, and if half the team hasn't quit by the end of the season, I will be surprised. Good job Coach.
